Nestled among century-old spruces and pines near the train station in Kislovodsk stands an exquisite Art Nouveau mansion built in 1903, widely known as Shalyapin's Dacha. The legendary world-renowned opera singer Fyodor Ivanovich Shalyapin rented this luxurious residence for his family. Local elders still recall the summer evenings of 1917, when the singer's powerful and magnificent voice echoed from the open drawing room windows. Today, the mansion houses the Literary and Musical Museum “Shalyapin's Dacha”, a vibrant cultural center. It hosts the annual “Shalyapin Seasons” featuring famous bass singers, children's music festivals, literary and musical evenings, film screenings, meetings, and guided tours. In the second building, visitors can explore the “Russian Emigration” hall—the only one of its kind in Southern Russia—and the exhibition “A. Solzhenitsyn – Honorary Citizen of Kislovodsk”.
