National Research University
Moscow Power Engineering Institute is a Russian higher educational institution in the field of energy, electrical engineering, radio engineering, electronics, information technology and management. It was founded in 1930. Since 2010 has the status of National Research University. The official name is National Research University MPEI.
MPEI has 12 institutes, 65 departments, 176 research laboratories, an experimental design bureau and a pilot plant, a unique thermal power plant, the largest scientific and technical library in the country, the Energia stadium, a swimming pool, and a palace of culture.
Teachers - 7 academicians and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 262 doctors of sciences, 715 candidates of sciences.
Educational buildings are located in the Moscow district of Lefortovo. Dormitories for students, sanatorium, canteens, cafes are located on the campus along the streets Energeticheskaya, Lapina, Energetichesky proezd, 1st Sinichkina. The newspaper Energetik is published. The student’s Radio MEI and the television MEI TV were organized.
More than 200 thousand specialists in various fields of science and technology were trained at MPEI.
